Pt. Vijayshankar Mehta’s column: Utilization of intelligence is important to be intelligent

Wisdom alone does not suffice. The proper use and misuse of intelligence becomes important. The biggest example of misuse of intelligence is Ravana and the example of proper use of intelligence is Kakbhushundi. Ravana was a Brahmin, world conqueror, king of demons. But it went wrong in terms of intelligence. Kakabhushundi bird, and a bad crow at that too, but used his intelligence a lot. He said to Garuda – Listen Khages Raghupati Prabhutai, let me tell you the story of Jathamati. Listen to the sovereignty of bird king Garuda Raghunath ji. I tell that pleasant story according to my wisdom. The words ‘according to your wisdom’ are very important. When understanding arises along with knowledge then it is called intelligence. And if the intellect is refined then it is wisdom. There are four types of intelligence – IQ- logical thinking, EQ- emotional thinking, SQ- social thinking and AQ- adversity quotient i.e. how to face challenges. Everyone has intelligence to some extent, but to be intelligent one has to make efforts.
