Pt. Vijayshankar Mehta’s column: Keep re-energizing yourself in between work

Many people work continuously for eight-ten hours and some people take frequent breaks of one-two hours. Both situations are not good. Psychologists say that if you have to work continuously then keep the duration to four hours, this will be called working hard. If you work for four hours, you will not feel mentally tired. Then take a break and get back to work again. What to do during the interval? There are eight stages of yoga. In this, the third step is asana, fourth is pranayam, fifth is pratyahara, sixth is dharana. Do these four things for four-five minutes. Asana, i.e. do stretching of the body. Pranayam means to look at the in and out breath. Pratyahara means turn your senses inward. And Dharana means concentrate the mind. If your intermission is filled with these four things, you will remain completely fresh for the next four hours. So work hard, work hard, but in between, re-energize yourself every four hours.
