I was relieved to see Aishwarya Rai on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival. Because like me, she has also become ‘healthy’. Brother, at the age of fifty-two you cannot look twenty-five, this is a fact. But Bollywood is not ready to accept this. Judge reality shows, but do not accept reality. Just imagine, the actress whose picture I saw while bunking in college, is the same after thirty years. What is their diet – boiled vegetables, lettuce, or just air? There is only one question in my mind – can a person who is deprived of tasty food really be happy? Well, now the pharma companies are boasting that they have found a solution. The medicine was made for those who suffer from diabetes. Now those who have complaint about ‘diameter’ are using it. Eat Ozempic, know yourself. But yes, don’t tell anyone. Hey, I did a lot of exercise. Ate chia for breakfast and ghee for lunch. Your willpower has to be appreciated. How courageously do you bear the side effects of medicines. You must be imagining on the screen of your mind with your eyes closed – what is there under the fat, under the fat… I will tell you what is there – bones. Today many well-known personalities have started looking like withered trees. His body was dry and his face was dry. There are no cheeks, now only dimples remain. She has definitely lost weight but also lost her glow. Well, that is their personal choice but since the general public watches the stars, I have only one advice for you – do not take shortcuts. Start taking medicines only if you truly need them medically. It is not that I am going to get married, I want to lose ten kilos quickly, so I adopt the easy way. No one knows what could be the effect of taking such medicines for a long time. So why take huge risks? We all know what to do – eat healthy, go to the gym. But in my opinion, the biggest reason for weight gain is something else. Why do we overeat? Because by eating we satisfy not only the stomach but also the mind. Since childhood, we have associated food with mother’s love and affection. Son, eat one more mouthful, eat it for me. And at every turn we do not consider food as just food, we connect it with our emotions. When a relative comes to visit, we say – have your meal and then leave. And put an extra roti in their plate. This is called respect and hospitality. If there is someone’s wedding and there are not 125 types of dishes, then what is that wedding? If there is no trace of pulse on your stomach while eating, then there is something missing in the feast. Sometimes happy and sometimes sad, we will never be separated from food. I know that I should exercise restraint but my mind doesn’t agree. This is the root of all trouble. I am not saying that you should never eat cake, ice cream or samosa. Just ask yourself a question – When I’m sad, do I feel like eating something? And that too not bread-vegetables, pulses-rice. Want something sweet, or something spicy. So that the heart melts, the sorrow is suppressed. This is called emotional eating, it is a common way to run away from yourself. You are looking for love, affection, comfort in food – but it can only give you extra calories. So the next time you feel like eating untimely or unnecessarily, close your eyes for two minutes. Ask yourself the question – What is happening inside me? Pick up a pen and express your feelings on a page of paper for ten minutes. If you feel like crying, let the tears fall. If you get angry, let it show on the page. After writing, take a deep breath, that feeling of nonsense has gone away. Eat whenever your stomach calls for it. Then don’t be afraid of ghee roti. Don’t compete with those who show their bones. Good luck to them, enjoy the real food. Whenever you feel sad, do you feel like eating something? And that too not bread-vegetables, pulses-rice. Something sweet, or spicy. So that the heart melts, the sorrow is suppressed. This is called emotional eating, it is a common way to run away from yourself. (These are the author’s own views)
